by Betty Richards

When I retired from Infant teaching I took courses to learn reproduction doll making and painting. The equipment needed took up a lot of room so I started to make fabric dolls with handpainted faces (similar to Lenci dolls) which I enjoyed very much.

Months later I was looking round Kensington Miniatures Fair for leather shoes for a doll I had made. A lady from "Sunday Dolls" noticed the doll in my hand  and asked me to make one for her daughter, Jan Clarke who suggested I join the team to dress miniatures.

This in turn led to me being employed by "The Singing Tree " in Chelsea, a prestigious job where I stayed 13 years. When the business closed down I carried on with private commissions and now after a 6 month sabbatical I am once again dressing miniature dolls.

My work has recently been featured in Dolls House and Miniature Scene Magazine.

Commissions are most welcome !

Please phone Betty for information on dolls available Tel : 020 8680 0803.
