Mini Witch By Jakdaw Fantasy Arts

We wish to say a huge thank you to Julie of Jakdaw Fantasy Arts for this wonderful junior project!

Materials needed to make this Mini Witch:

Tin foil.
Fimo in black, flesh and white.
Craft knife, and one large needle
ADULT SUPERVISION REQUIRED

Instructions:

First scrunch up a bit of foil into a long cone shape. What size you make is really up to you. I will be making this mini witch using the larger cone shown in the photo above.

Cover your cone with the black fimo. As shown in the picture above, make a diamond shape and a large triangle from the black. Next make two round shapes from the flesh, one tiny one for the nose and another for the witches head.

Place the nose on the head and and blend the edges together using the side of the needle so that it will hold. Next push the head gently onto the top of the cone taking care not to squash it. Using your needle make a mouth as shown in the photo. Next place two tiny bits of round fimo on the head for eyes.

Using your needle, press gently into the cone to create folds in the dress. Cut the small diamond in half and shape each sleeve as in the photo. Smooth the large edge of sleeve to give a slightly rounded finish. Press the smaller ends of the sleeves onto the cone either side of the head to create the shoulders.
Next take the flesh colour and make two small tear drop shapes. Place each onto the cone just where the sleeves would end making it so the smaller bit of the teardrop disappears up under the sleeve.

Gently flatten the sleeves down and using the needle create a crease where there would be a natural bend in the arm.

Cut the top off the large triangle and shape as shown in the photo. Next cut out small triangles from the bottom. This gives you your witches cloak. Place it around her back and press gently into place. If the cloak covers the arms you can just redo the arm crease.

Take the white and roll out lots of strands. these can be as thick or thin , short or long as you want. With the needle place the strands all around the sides of her head.

Roll a ball as shown in the photo above and make a long thin cone shape from the top half and flatten what is left of the bottom half

Carefully press the hat onto your little finger to create a small hollow. Shape the sides of the hat and place gently but firmly onto your witches head. All that is left to do is bake her following the manufacturers instructions.
(Ask a parent to place her on a baking dish and into the oven for you and then take her out once baked!) The timing will depend on what size witch you have made but as a guide it is 30 minutes for each  1/4 inch (6mm) depth of clay
There you have yourself one sweet little mini witch.

Experiment with different colour clays to come up with your very own unusual witch! Don't forget to send us photos of you completed witches!
simply send an email and ask your parent to add the photo as an attachment, please include your name, age and county! We will show case your work here!
