Jamie originally started
out creating J Designs with Jill Bennett in 1984 but went back to pursue
his earlier theatrical design field in costume and set design.
Still wanting to make scale figures he searched for a medium to work in
when a chance broken ankle gave him time to think and he discovered a
block if polymer clay. From that moment on Jamie hasn’t had time to
rest.
He soon discovered that the public, who up till that time had wanted
‘dolls’ for their dolls house, now wanted real scale people, just what
he’d always wanted to make.
Soon he was asked to write a book,1/12 Scale Character Figures for the
dolls’ house, by The Guild of Master Craftsman Publications, and, later
on, was lucky enough to meet up with Wilma and Rob Yost of Polymer Clay
Express who now produce an ongoing series of Videos and DVDs

Until recently Jamie has mainly shown his work in America where he also
has been lucky enough to be asked to teach for The International Guild
of Miniature Artisans in Castine, Maine, but he’s now expanding back in
Europe teaching in England, Denmark and Holland.
He’s really honoured to be presented with the Platinum Fellowship of The
Guild and hopes he’ll be of some practical use to the other members old
and new.

Platinum Fellow is the highest award of the Guild, it is only for those who
